The second east end fire station, built after the fire of 1909 destroyed the original building. The east end station, known as station #3, was later named after OFD fire inspector George Wittenmeyer, who died in the F.W. Woolworth fire in downtown Ottumwa in 1942. Wittenmeyer's name is spelled differently on the building. For more information on the Michael Lemberger Collection visit https://aspace.lib.uiowa.edu/repositories/2/resources/3157
